In February 2025, the owners of Portvinsbaren founded the association Portvinsbarens Venner (Friends of Portvinsbaren). Portvinsbaren has always been a place where people meet over a good glass and a good chat, and we wanted to use that space for something more than port.
The association’s purpose is to promote musical and cultural events. We do this by making room for different kinds of events in the bar:
Music
We want to give talented and typically young musicians a stage and an audience that listens. So far, we’ve held Plader og Portvin med DJ STEALYOGURL (Records and Port with DJ STEALYOGURL) and Fællessang og portvin (Sing-along and Port), among others.
Talks
We also want to invite people with something on their mind to give talks in the bar. It could be anything from historical topics to climate change. We haven’t held any talks yet, but they’re on their way.
Attending the association’s events is free and requires no sign-up. That’s possible because Portvinsbaren continually donates part of its profits to the association. Just show up. Everyone is welcome, and you don’t need to be a port expert or a musician to join in.
Become a member
Anyone can become a member for 75 DKK a year. As a member, you get a free glass of port at each of the association’s events, and you help support the association’s work. You can request membership here.
The association is non-profit and independent of party-political and religious interests.
