Fragulho is a small wine house in Douro, who makes both port, white, red, rose and moscatel wines. At Portvinsbaren we’re very proud to be importers of Fragulho’s wines to Denmark.
Portvinsbaren’s team often takes trips to Portugal to visit the houses whose wines we have in our selection. Apart from visiting port producers we always use the opportunity to visit wine bars and taste ports, often in blind tastings.
In 2019 Portvinsbaren’s team did a blind port tasting at a small wine bar in Porto called Bacchus Vini. At the tasting, one of the wines stood out from the crowd. Edward, who founded Portvinsbaren, guessed that it was a 40 year old tawny. However, it was actually Fragulho’s 20 year tawny, which we were in love with immediately.
After the tasting, we immediately contacted the producer of the fantastic wine. When it turned out that they didn’t have a danish importer, Portvinsbaren was ready. Every since we’ve been the exclusive importers of all of Fragulho’s wonderful wines.
Prize winning port
Fragulho is an example of one of the many small producers, that produce very high quality. They only make two ports: 10 year and 20 year tawnies. In 2025 their 10 year tawny won guld at the big wine competition in Frankfurt (Frankfurt International Trophy), and the year before their 20 year tawny won “Grand Gold”.
